A skateboard deck’s wood type affects how strong a deck is and how much force and abuse it can take. Pro skate decks use North American maple for highest quality and strength. European Maple / Chinese birch is a great cheaper alternative and a good choice if you are starting your first ever run of skate decks or organizing a complete skateboards production.
Almost all premium skateboard decks are made from North American maple — the industry standard. Strong, dense, and resilient, with a higher cost.

Depending on the year’s harvest season we have either European maple or Chinese birch. The strongest wood from the harvest is chosen for production. After you submit your deck order you can ask our staff specialist which wood is in season.

The adhesive pressed between the wood layers (veneers) affects the stiffness of a deck. This determines how long the pop of a deck lasts and its responsiveness.
Veneers are the thin slices of wood that make up your skateboard. Average street skate decks usually have 7 layers. 5 is also possible, sacrificing strength for a lighter deck.
There are 3 types of veneers:
The combination of straight and crossband veneers makes the deck strong and helps prevent snapping
This is how a skateboard goes from veneers and glue to an actual skateboard deck. Molds give the skateboards their kick and concave. The shape is cut to give its style, nose / tail shape, width, and wheelbase.
Between each veneer, adhesive is evenly distributed, then put into a hydraulic press machine. This press has a precision steel mold that presses down onto the veneers and forms the deck’s concave, nose kick, and tail kick angles.
After the glue has solidified and cured, we cut out the shape of the decks. You may have heard shape terms like popsicle, fish, old school, twin tail, and more. A CNC cutting machine first cuts out the truck mounting holes (normally 14.25" apart) which then hold the deck down while it cuts out the outline. The edges are sanded and the board is polished for that classic new-deck look.
Simplest method. Send us a shape you want to replicate, or cut your own shape to send us. We copy the dimensions ourselves and start production.
First we need the aerial view / outline of the deck — width, length, wheelbase, nose length, and tail length. Second we need the concave depth of the entire board. An aerial outline alone is only enough for a flat deck; concave changes the dimensions, so we need to know how deep it is.
